Gone are the days when the king used tobe the Supreme power. In many kingdoms, he was treated as if he were Lord Almighty. Nobody dared to question him. Whatever he said, was treated right. In some kingdoms, hewas believed to be messenger between God and people. Today, things have taken a different turn.We have
democracy. We have the right to elect the person of our choice. If the elected person goes against the will of
the people, he shall lose his power in the next election. It has become prevalent that the governing body takes things for granted. Once elected to power, the members of the governing body forger the promises to
the people. They merely either make a fuss or convert serious issues into talking for talking sake, In many a case, discussions remain monotonous, as if it were left to the mercy of the fate. Also there are cases where
the members wait for Godot. People, though educated, do not share the responsibility of nation's progress. Still they need to develop the awareness that nation basically belongs to
them, and rulers are there to help them, support them, and hasten the progress. All these should be run on
the lines of justice. Again the rulers need to check whether they comprehend the term, justice, in the true sense. If needed they need to undergo a training session under the guidance of the political experts who should desigh the syllabus that comprises a blend of the political theory and cultural needs. This is because
the geographical variations across the globe may influence the social conditions of the people. As such, the definition of justice may not be justified.
There is a kind of lethargy among the ruled, which makes them busy with personal obligations, domestic affairs and desire to earn limitless
money and luxury that finds no dimensions. They remain in illusion that the rulers shall take care of them by all
means, forgetting that they( the rulers) too, are human beings, and human beings need not be right always.
Their decsions need to be approved by the people. This is the crown of democracy. It is not the politician
or the ruler, who forms the respiratory system of democracy, but the people, in whose hands the real power
lies. It is the people who should take an active part in democracy. They should not remain indifferent to the
injustice that occurs to any section of society. Even a rational question from a common man, can send shudders through the men vested with powers, irrespect of the position he assumes, and he may form any rung of the ladder of the political or administrative heirarchy.
Hence, it is obvious that political house shelters the few because it is difficult or otherwise, not possible to house the millions who are the actual rulers of the democracy.
