Democracy, over-ruled by political enthusiasm

Democracy gives a wider scope for decision-making, though there are constitutional
parameters. On the grounds of feasibility, people cannot participate in this process.
They gain significance only during the elections.    Image result for pictures of indian voters inside the booth

As the citizen's significance appears only while  electing the government, during the tenure, the government finds no moral restrictions or impediments in its way towards putting a Bill into force.

However, people raise a hue and cry, when the Bill appears to strangle their purchasing-power, or lacerates their feelings.

For instance, the hike in the price of the petrol or gas.The decision-making process is confined to the body of representatives who form the government.

Most decisions                                                                                            taken in the past have been hasty. Democracy is the ground created for the people's freedom and development but it is the political enthusiasm that has its say.Image result for images of a large population

The seed of ignorance sown, will certainly emerge into a tree that would bear the fruits of disaster which is inevitable. What a beautiful thing it is - that which is well thought of, but it is the blind enthusiasm that surpasses it. Many a time, the blemishes remain unnoticed for a long time. The harmful consequences come into light but the root cause is ignored by the sufferers.

During the policy-making process, it is quite difficult for the legislators to remain free from political enthusiasm and prejudice, that distort the applicability of the law, in a particular context. Here, by 'context' it is meant that a law finds relevance to the territory where it is implemented. Again, the relevance differs in accordance to the location and the nature of the problem that prevails there.

Hope, better days come which would put in place, strong machinery that would protect and safeguard the spirit of the nation.

DRASTIC CHANGES IN INDIAN POLITICS

Aam Admi Party's stunning victory in New Delhi's recent elections, has once again proved that the previous political crisis that Arvind Kezriwal was engulfed in, was only the clouds that covered the Sun, for the time
being. Also, it was a God's test to let him undergo repentance and purgation. The only error committed by him, might lie in his practical approach towards governance. He had overlooked the hurdles while addressing the public grievances when he had his first political victory after floating his party. This, however, cannot make him peccable, because it was not a matter of  crime or embezzlement. It was a matter of experience. The maxim, ' Experience makes a man perfect' is apt in the context of  Kezriwal's political crisis in the past. Moreover, it was a stepping stone to success. The coating of golden colour gets corroded soon and permanently. Similarly, the corrupts cannot regain the confidence and trust, back from the deceived voters. The envied politicians who had humiliated Aam Admi party, during the past crisis of AAP, should learn the fact that political gimmick and mean diplomacy, cannot win the war against truth and honesty. Lies and betrayal need mean logic and criticism but honesty does not. Honesty and truth are born to stand the test of time, and the fruits that are ripened by nature and test of time are sweeter than anything else. The recent Aap's victory. is an eye-opener to the fact that people do not forget the stainless services, which might be a bit defective but not fake. Arwind Kezriwal's whole-hearted involvement is brimming with love for the people. Kejriwal's victory of both past and present is an outcome of  relentless enthusiasm and unparalleled commitment, contrary to what is usually seen. Here, the latter is dominated by the former. It is true commitment and will to do things, is what prevails. It remains glaring in the annals of history. 'To err is human, to forgive is divine' is apt in the case of Kezriwal but not in the case of the corrupt leaders, who become victorious by chance. Kejriwal's is a mission that aims at doing the kind of service what the Earth rarely witnesses. People like Kezriwal, should, however, be not worried about the success and failures, or the challenges concealed within destiny. The gap between the past   gloom and the recent glory, should have seasoned him with the kind of logic that is needed to deal with certain things. To drive the point home, it would be apt if we mention the role of a pick-pocket in updating the personality of the person whose pocket is picked. Similarly, those politicians who use deceptive diplomacy against honesty and truth, are actually, seasoning the raw wood. In this regard, they become trainers who test the trainee with staunch principles. This is where we find prosperity in adversity, as the lotus that grows in muddy water. Our nation needs people like Kejriwal through whose services, whole-hearted free-service and involvement emanate. We don't need veterans of political deception and people who have wrongly re-defined the words 'logic' and 'diplomacy'. In fact, these terms have not been re-defined but have been added with filth and dirt that stinks. Enough damage has been done to freedom and flexibility bestowed by democracy. Now the people's patience is on the brink. It is time people of real commitment and will, took the reigns of the country into their hands. We not only need a ruler with sense of direction, but also the one who is born to serve the people. Such men are rarely available but the one who is destined to quench his relentless financial thirst, is found everywhere.
If it is difficult to win in the election, it is more difficult to retain the position bestowed by the trustees who have voted the nominee to power. Honesty and chastity are undoubtedly, are qualities that form the criteria for winning over the hearts of the people. But, this alone, cannot ensure security of the winner. Along with these great qualities, are needed the logic and a tact of dealing with things. For instance, in the past Delhi election that that witnessed Kezriwal's foremost victory, the way the people's grievances were addressed, was not apt. It is not the case of ancient Greece where all the people took part in the policy making or introduced their problems directly but not through representatives. That was, however, possible, in that context, because the population was a small one.
Hence, Kezriwal and his party members have to reinforce their rule. For this they need to modify their approach of receiving and addressing the grievances of the people. The past desperate situation should not be given any space in the future. If repeated many times, it may leave even the optimistic, crest-fallen.

QUALIFICATION OF A RULER IN DEMOCRACY

If not high, at least some necessary qualifications should be prescribed and followed strictly, with regard to the position of a ruler in democracy.Otherwise, the constitutional functions and the rights of the people cannot be guaranteed. Marginal prosperity can be achieved in a long span of time.
Not only the expected minimum qualification will do, in addition, training classes should be conducted by political and administrative experts, for the rulers,  to update their personality and skills in order to match their skills and perspectives, to the global needs.

DECENCY IN POLITICS

In countries that have democracy, the members of the ruling party or in the opposition,  fail to maintain the norms and self-discipline. The lack of decency becomes a stain mark to the democracy. There is an urgent need for realization that the discussion in the Assembly assumes the shaping factor of the millions of
lives of the nation. It is not a cocktail party where one finds grooming talking. Bills and
other debatable issues need discussion. But, the discussion should not take the shape of
arrogance. They should put their uncivil behavior aside. Foul language should be banned. For the members who violate the code of conduct, there should be a law to put the member out of the sessions atleast for a duration of time. The members should understand that they are the representatives of the people but not
the representatives of their passions, ego and prejudice. A politican being a ruler, is above
the common man, not in the sense that he is the Supreme Lord, but that he holds collective responsibility of a part of the society which he represents. As such, certain code of
conduct is expected from him. Nevertheless, he should be a role model. If he is decent, difnified and has correlation between his word and action, only then people will take his words to heart. People will look upto him with great respect. He need not have to strive
to attract the attention of the people. They themselves will be eager to know his actions. He will, perhaps, reserve his seat in the annals of history.
With the changing time and the contemporary demands, there is an urgent need for the politicians to shift the focus from silly criticisms and quarels to the needs of the people, that would enhance national prosperity.

RULERS AND THE RULED

Gone are the days when the king used tobe the Supreme power. In many kingdoms, he was treated as if he were Lord Almighty. Nobody dared to question him. Whatever he said, was treated right. In some kingdoms, hewas believed to be messenger between God and  people. Today, things have taken a different turn.We have
democracy. We have the right to elect the person of our choice. If the elected person goes against the will of
the people, he shall lose his power in the next election. It has become prevalent that the governing body takes things for granted. Once elected to power,  the members of the governing body forger the promises to
the people. They merely either make a fuss or convert serious issues into talking for talking sake, In many a case, discussions remain monotonous, as if it were left to the mercy of the fate. Also there are cases where
the members wait for Godot. People, though educated, do not share the responsibility of nation's progress. Still they need to develop the awareness that nation basically belongs to
them, and rulers are there to help them, support them, and hasten the progress. All these should be run on
the lines of justice. Again the rulers need to check whether they comprehend the term, justice, in the true sense. If needed they need to undergo a training session under the guidance of the political experts who should desigh the syllabus that comprises a blend of the political theory and cultural needs. This is because
the geographical variations across the globe may influence the social conditions of the people. As such, the definition of justice may not be justified.
There is a kind of lethargy among the ruled, which makes them busy with personal obligations, domestic affairs and desire to earn limitless
money and luxury that finds no dimensions. They remain in illusion that the rulers shall take care of them by all
means, forgetting that they( the rulers) too, are human beings, and human beings need not be right always.
Their decsions need to be approved by the people. This is the crown of democracy. It is not the politician
or the ruler, who forms the respiratory system of democracy, but the people, in whose hands the real power
lies. It is the people who should take an active part in democracy. They should not remain indifferent to the
injustice that occurs to any section of society. Even a rational question from a common man, can send shudders through the men vested with powers, irrespect of the position he assumes, and he may form any rung of the ladder of the political or administrative heirarchy.
Hence, it is obvious that political house shelters the few because it is difficult or otherwise, not possible to house the millions who are the actual rulers of the democracy.
